No, jackasses!

CNN says the Dems are already trying to use House rules to screw Republicans from engaging in discussions or offering alternatives. They say it's only so they can pass the most important parts of their agenda and pay off their campaign promises. Problem is, even if I agree with the policies (I think just about everybody is in favor of ethics reform, though whether it will actually do anything is the real question), the methods stink. What about the promise to be bipartisan, and, you know, not giant dicks like the Republicans were?

I and many other liberal bloggers said we would call the Dems on their bullshit if it reared its head. It looks like we're going to have plenty of things to talk about for the next two years. Now we get to see if lefty bloggers have more integrity than the people they voted for.

Edit: On the other hand...

Democratic leaders said they are not going to allow Republican input into the ethics package and other early legislation because several of the bills already have been debated and dissected, including the proposal to raise the minimum wage, which passed the House Appropriations Committee in the 109th Congress, said Brendan Daly, a spokesman for Pelosi.

For clues about how the Democrats will operate, the spotlight is on the House, where the new 16-seat majority will hold absolute power over the way the chamber operates. Most of the early legislative action is expected to stem from the House.

``It's in the nature of the House of Representatives for the majority party to be dominant and control the agenda and limit as much as possible the influence of the minority,'' said Ross Baker, a political scientist at Rutgers University. ``It's almost counter to the essence of the place for the majority and minority to share responsibility for legislation.'

Am I overreacting? Maybe. Maybe I'd just like to see the Dems rise above the GOP's standards a little.

Double-edit: Lou Dobbs says Dems aren't "adding any new solutions; they're putting their domestic agenda... FIRST." Holy shit, Lou, that's totally not at all like, say, stem cells, Gay marriage, or Terry Godamn Schiavo.

Help me out here, Lou, what's an example of a non-domestic agenda? (When it's bullshit that's spread around the country, like "war on the middle class?" Or does it have to be foreign policy or defense, in which case the War on Terror seems to be one of the few things that count, except maybe for your illegal alien rantings.) Better yet, name me some of these mysterious policy issues that the Republican-controlled Congress have been working on as they slave away three months out of the year. Yutz.
